The Secret Service tonight says the man arrested for tossing lit firecrackers over the White House fence is identified as Alexander Sahagian; he is believed to be 52 years old.

Sahagian was tackled just seconds after throwing the firecrackers over the fence onto the North Lawn. The incident comes as security officials remain on edge following this morning's mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard that left 13 people dead, including the gunman.

President Obama was home this evening when the incident occured; the Secret Service would not confirm whether First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha were in the residence at the time.

The firecrackers, which some bystanders thought were gunshots, triggered a lockdown of the White House complex.

A Secret Service spokesman says Sahagian was taken to a nearby police station and will lkely be charged with illegally throwing a projectile.
